Our Story
Great!Lakes Candy follows a tradition of over 100 years of fine candy making that originated on Minnesota’s Iron Range in 1905 by founder Gust Canelake. From Gust Canelake’s Candy Kitchen, the secret recipes were passed on to sons John & Leo.

As Third generation candymakers, we have mastered the same recipes from our father, John Canelake.

We are creating the same old fashioned, handmade candies made with Grade AA butter, real whipping cream and quality chocolate at our new store in Knife River, MN.

Our Great!Lakes Candy name symbolizes both the Great Lakes and the “Lakes” in the original Canelake family name.
